March 21, 2002 Xenosaga Comes Out On Top!!!
Xenosaga: Episode I come out in Japan on the 28th of Fabruary 2002.It sold around 300.000 copies in the first week, which made it the best selling game that week. I personally expected Japanese to know what is good ... around 1 million copies or at least half a million, but 300.000 isn't all that bad from the looks of it. From what I heard Xenogears was much more seccesfull in US then Japan so maybe the US (and maybe PAL) market will sell more copies.
Anyway ... here is what the top five was on the week Xenosaga was released (note: translated using bablefish):
1. Xenosaga: Episode I - Will To Power (PS2) 2. It receives, making the street 3 100010000 millionaires! (what the...??? ... some of those Japanese games are weird) (PS2) 3. Prince of Tennis (PS) 4. Kanon (PS2) 5. In The Space Time Which Becomes 2 (PS2)
And one or two weeks after:
1. Onimusha 2 (PS2) 2. J League Proffesional Soccer Clubs (PS2) 3. Xenosaga: Episode I - Will To Power (PS2) 4. It receives, making the street 3 100010000 millionaires! (again) (PS2) 5. Prince of Tennis (PS)
So far Xenosaga sold around 350.000 copies from what I know. One thing I can understand is how can those people buy games with such names ... but it's not about the name ... its the gameplay that matters :)
